Best Mousepad for Apex Legends

The most used mousepads by Apex Legends players

The most popular mousepads are calculated based on 67 professional players.

Introduction

When it comes to performing well in video games, having the correct gear that perfectly suits your personal preferences is half the battle, and many players invest a lot of money into their peripherals such as keyboards, mice, and headphones. However, mousepads are one of the things that often get overlooked and it is significantly less common to see players investing in mousepads as much as other peripherals.

This can be a huge oversight, as different mousepads provide different levels of friction and can affect your mouse speed and accuracy, causing your performance to suffer which can often mean the difference between winning and losing a match, especially if you are playing at a high competitive level.

There are many companies out there that offer a large selection of mousepads so it can be somewhat difficult to choose the perfect one that suits your needs, especially if you are not sure what you are looking for. Fortunately, we are here to provide you with some general information about some of the Best Mousepads For Apex Legends that professional players use and hopefully assist you with choosing the one that perfectly fits your preferences.

What makes a mousepad good for Apex Legends?

Apex Legends is a fast-paced battle-royale first-person shooter that has the player tasked with eliminating all other enemies on constantly shrinking map. The player has a wide variety of tools, weapons, and abilities that they can freely use in order to achieve this goal and remain the last man or team standing.

All of this makes Apex Legends a very competitive game and in order to win, you will need all the advantages that you can get. This means that having the correct peripherals will go a long way.

Each of the mousepads listed below comes with its own unique properties. While some are optimized to offer good stopping power, steady aim, and precise control, others are more tailored toward providing fast gliding speeds and quick mouse movements.

While most professional players tend to use lower DPI settings and opt to use mousepads that fall into the former category, there are those who choose to go the opposite route. It all boils down to personal preferences and luckily, mousepad companies are more than happy to accommodate both demographics.

Logitech G640

The ever-present Logitech G640 of course has to make an appearance on this list. This cloth gaming mousepad is 3mm thick and is an excellent middle-of-the-road pad in terms of performance. While the Logitech G640 offers smooth gliding, it doesn’t boast the best performance when it comes to control or speed. Instead, this mousepad focuses on trying to provide the best overall experience by balancing the line between speed and control, and it does so very successfully in our opinion.

The Logitech G640 is a high-quality, durable mousepad that doesn’t require a lot of maintenance, and as such is perfectly suited for players who enjoy long gaming sessions as well as players who regularly play at different computers and enjoy LAN parties. Another thing that Logitech G640 has going for it is the fact that it is one of the most popular mousepads out there, which makes it very easy to replace should you find yourself in need of a new one.

Aside from the regular G640, Logitech has also released and sold a large variety of team-specific editions. There are no big differences between the regular G640 and the team editions, though the latter do usually come with stitched edges, giving them a bit more durability over the regular version.

The Logitech G640 is the ideal ‘starting pad’ for people who aren’t quite sure what they want when it comes to mousepads thanks to its middle of the road glide.

ZOWIE G-SR-SE

The ZOWIE G-SR-SE can easily be confused with the standard ZOWIE G-SR, but you would be greatly mistaken if you do so. Whereas the G-SR is very much a control-focused mousepad, the G-SR-SE offers an experience that’s somewhere in between a traditional control pad and a medium-speed pad.

The ZOWIE G-SR-SE is a somewhat thicker mousepad compared to other entries on this list at 3.5mm and comes with a dense and very consistent foam, making it a reliable surface to play on, regardless of the circumstances you’re using it in.

In the past, the G-SR-SE had some issues with handling moisture, but ever since the newer versions (which started with the G-SR-SE Rouge) have been coming out, the pad has gotten much better at handling liquids and oils.

The ZOWIE G-SR-SE is an extremely solid choice if you’re looking for a mousepad that slightly holds you back without feeling like a control pad.

ZOWIE made a number of promises when they first unveiled the G-SR-SE Rouge, and from what I can tell they’ve delivered on all of them. The surface is smoother, the humidity resistance is better, and the foam is a little bit softer. The pad still feels every bit as consistent as it should be, though, and with its controlling medium glide (by this I mean that it’s pretty much a ‘medium’ pad, but it’s on the slower end of that spectrum) this Rouge offers an interesting glide experience for people who play tactical shooters or who just want a touch more control without losing out on gliding speed.

  • Increased humidity resistance when compared to earlier versions, though it’s still not flawless at handling oils and sweat
  • Firm, uniform gliding feeling thanks to the dense foam

Artisan Hayate Otsu

The Artisan Hayate Otsu mousepad is definitely one of the more interesting mousepads on this list. It is a cloth mousepad that provides a fast glide perfect for rapid mouse movements, however, its surface also allows for quick and precise stopping allowing the player to retain control of their aim.

What makes this mousepad interesting is the fact that it is somewhat customizable. The pad comes in two different sizes as well as three different levels of hardness, allowing the player to pick options that perfectly suit their personal preferences.

Artisan is a legendary brand in the mousepad space due to the extreme attention to detail that they offer, so if you do decide to spend some of your hard-earned cash on this pad (Artisan pads don’t come cheap) then you’ll add a rock solid performer to your arsenal that’s finished to the highest standards.

The Artisan Hayate Otsu is one of Artisan’s slower pads. It’s a bit faster than the control-oriented Zero, so it’s an ideal pickup if you don’t like the speed of the Zero and you want to get something a touch quicker.

Pros

  • Great finishing
  • Premium stitching

Cons

  • Availability can be a problem
  • Very expensive

Artisan Ninja FX Zero

The Artisan Ninja FX Zero is all about precision and control and less about speed.

This mousepad comes with a high amount of static friction which allows for tiny adjustments when aiming, providing a high degree of control and precision which is the strongest selling point of the Artisan Ninja FX Zero. With that said, this mousepad also provides decent gliding speed which makes it a decent choice for tracking heavy games as well.

When it comes to build quality, the Artisan Ninja FX Zero is very durable and perfectly suited for hours upon hours of gameplay. The only downside of this mousepad is the fact that dust can quickly accumulate on its surface, making it require a bit more maintenance compared to other high-quality mousepads.

The Artisan Zero is the control pad in the Japanese brand’s lineup, though that doesn’t mean that it’s a dedicated control mousepad. What you’re getting is a control-oriented mousepad with Artisan’s famous quality. If you’re looking for a top tier mousepad, you’ve got to look at Artisan.

  • Great finishing

Cons

  • Very expensive
  • Availability can be an issue

Artisan FX Hien

The Artisan Hien is one of Artisan’s faster pads, and if you’re looking for that Artisan quality and craftsmanship bundled in a speed-focused package, you definitely have to take a look at the Hien.

The Hien is less popular than the Hayate Otsu and the Zero (which is undoubtedly the star of Artisan’s lineup right now) but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t deserve your attention. The speed-focused glide that it offers is ideal for players who like some zip to their mouse movements without going all the way into that ‘I’m on smooth ice’ feeling that the fastest pads on the market offer.

The Artisan Hien is super high quality speed-focused mousepad from one of the most known and respected mousepad manufacturers in the world. It’s an enthusiast product, but if you’re after a premium mousepad experience you should have this on your radar.

Pros

  • Very high quality finishing and stitching
  • Good durability and moisture resistance

Cons

  • Very expensive
  • Difficult to get
  • Texture is on the rougher side, this can annoy some people

ZOWIE G-SR

If it’s control that you desire, the ZOWIE G-SR is right there for you. It’s long been known as one of the most controlling mousepads in the gaming peripherals space, and despite the fact that many control-oriented pads have come out in recent times it’s still one of the best options if you truly want your pad to reign you in.

The ZOWIE G-SR has a texture that’s on the rougher end when compared to some other pads, and it’s not fantastic at handling humidity either (something that’s been alleviated in the newest version, the G-SR II) but aside from that, the G-SR is a high quality pad that’s been heavily used in the pro scenes of all kinds of games for years now.

You can’t really go wrong with this one, though if you’re looking for a G-SR we’d recommend you to check if your store is carrying its successor, the G-SR II.

HyperX Fury S Pro

The HyperX Fury S Pro is one of the more popular ‘standard’ mousepads used by professional Apex Legends players.

It has a medium glide and a thickness that’s just above the average of 3 millimeters, but in all honesty there’s not much that sets it apart from other pads. It’s a reliable and decent ‘middle of the road’ mousepad that can be bought for rather friendly prices, so if you’re just getting started on your mousepad journey and/or you want to get yourself a pad that doesn’t err to one side of the ‘speed debate’ too much, the Fury S Pro is a reliable choice.

❝The HyperX Fury S Pro XL does everything right if you’re looking for a consistent pad with a medium (edging on fast) glide. It starts off a tad bit faster, but that initial faster feeling wears off after some time. Still, the glide and performance of the Fury S Pro is very respectable and I would definitely not feel bad if someone shoved this pad underneath my mouse and told me to use it in a competitive environment.❞
