Dota 2 is one of the most successful video games on the planet. This MOBA game is the sequel to Defense of the Ancients (hence: DotA), which was a mod for Warcraft III) and quickly became one of the most successful esports titles in the world, with The International (commonly known as ‘TI’) as the most important tournament in the professional scene. Notably, The International features a crowdfunded prize pool, giving events such as TI10 and TI9 a total prize pool of over 30 million dollars, with The International 10 (which is coming up in October of this year) even surpassing the 40 million mark.
Combine that huge success as an esports title with the fact that it’s free to play and it should come as no surprise that DOTA 2 is one of the most popular games in the entire world. It is not an easy game to pick up, though. There’s a rather steep learning curve, but once you get over that initial hump you’re in for a world of complex and rewarding mechanics and gameplay.
In order to help our readers become the very best players they can be we’ve sent out our team of analysts to take a look at the kind of gear and settings that the professionals are using. This should give you a good baseline to get your gear in order so that you can fully focus on the game and its many intricacies.
This list is currently in beta. As with all of our lists, it’s is an ongoing project and we will keep adding relevant players and settings as soon as they are available.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out either in the comments, Discord, or on Twitter if you have some additional or updated information. Thanks!
