What makes a gaming chair good for VALORANT?

VALORANT doesn’t require a specialized sitting position, so any good desk chair is a good chair for VALORANT. You definitely don’t need a gaming-branded chair, but if you’re interested in the topic you can read our article comparing office chairs to gaming chairs. In short, though: a gaming chair is just a type of office chair, so one isn’t necessarily better (or worse) than the other.

Ultimately, comfort is key, and everyone’s needs are unique. Whether it’s lumbar support, cushioning, or adjustability, you’ll want to prioritize what works best for your body. After all, it’s you who’s going to be spending hours in the chair.

What is definitely sure is that you will want to invest in a good chair, whether that’s a gaming-styled chair or a regular office chair. Sitting on something like a wooden dining chair for hours every day can lead to health complications further down the line. Your back and overall health is something you need to protect.

Secretlab Titan EVO

The gold standard

Secretlab is a household name in the gaming scene. Browse on streaming sites for a bit or watch some tournament VODs and you’ll see their chairs pop up more than once. In fact, Secretlab even has deep ties with the professional VALORANT scene, with multiple themed chairs being available. The Titan EVO is also the chair that pros use in the VCT circuit.

All of the above of course means nothing if the product itself is bad, but that’s not the case here. Secretlab produce some of the best gaming-style chairs out there. The Titan EVO is fully adjustable in all the right ways, made of quality materials, and comes in two different upholstery styles. The whole thing is backed by a 3-year warranty (extendable to 5 years) and very durable.

As an added bonus, the assembly process is extremely easy to follow. The simple instructions and clearly labeled packaging help ensure that your chair is ready to roll in no time.

One thing that should be noted about the Titan EVO is that the cushioning is on the firmer side. If you’re someone who is looking for a pillowy seat, the Titan EVO might be too firm for you. Aside from that, there shouldn’t be anything holding you back from going for this chair if you’re looking for a $500-$600 premium chair for VALORANT. It’s one of the most known gaming chairs out there for a reason.

The firmer cushion and padding definitely won’t suit everyone, but if you’re someone who prefers a firmer support area over a cloudy feeling for your bottom then this Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 is one of the better gaming chairs out there at this point in time.

Razer Iskur V2

Moves with you

If you’re looking for a premium gaming-styled chair, the Razer Iskur V2 could be the one. For starters, it has everything you need out of an office/gaming chair. Things like adjustable armrests, lumbar support, and a reclining seat with rolled edges; it’s all there.

Additionally, the chair is finished to a high standard and uses quality materials. Gamers who don’t like leatherette materials can also opt for a spill-resistant fabric upholstery.

Something that makes the Razer Iskur V2 stand out from the rest of the pack is the lumbar support. Like on other premium gaming chairs, this lumbar support is adjustable, but it also responds to your body’s movement. That’s quite unique for a gaming chair. The support swivels, so if you’re moving around in your chair the support moves with you, ensuring that your back is supported at all times.

The Iskur V2 is a good option for gamers who want a chair that sits a bit above that $500-ish price point that many good gaming chairs are priced at, but who don’t want to spend $1000+ on a chair.

Sharkoon Elbrus 3

Budget option

If you want a gaming-style chair and you don’t want to pay the price for a premium model, the Sharkoon Elbrus 3 is an option.

Being priced a bit lower than most other chairs in this article, it’s is undoubtedly friendlier on your wallet. However, you’ll need to make some compromises. Lumbar support isn’t built-in and comes in the form of a cushion, for example. The seating area also has aggressive side bolsters, which means that sitting cross-legged won’t be an option. Bigger gamers might also feel discomfort from these side bolsters.

If you can live with the aforementioned sidenotes, the Elbrus 3 is a good pick for gamers who want a standard, no-frills gaming chair made in that eye-catching racing style. Just don’t expect any premium or groundbreaking features.

Logitech G x Herman Miller Embody

A modern classic

If you go online and look for office chair recommendations, you’ll see this pop up often. The Embody was released in 2008 and is already a classic in the world of office chairs. Designers Bill Stumpf and Jeff Weber made the chair to support the body and enhance your overall well-being. If you look at the chair’s popularity, they succeeded.

They aimed to design the ultimate chair by using breathable materials all over the design. Additionally, there’s the pixelated support system, which is arguably the chair’s most striking feature. This is basically a flexible backrest that distributes your weight evenly and moves with your body as you shift throughout the day.

The Embody is a truly top tier chair, but it does cost a pretty penny. Unless you can find a great deal on a secondhand unit, you’ll have to part with well over $1,000 if you want to get this one for yourself. As a consequence, this isn’t a chair we’d recommend to people who only sit at their desk for an hour or so each day.

There’s also the fact that this chair isn’t really made for lounging. Most gaming chairs have backrests that recline almost completely, creating a mini-lounge. The Embody does not offer that feature, and it also doesn’t come with a headrest. Consequentially, this chair kind of forces you into an optimal position. That’s great for your health, but not so great if you like to recline and watch some shows or streams.

With that said: if you’re looking for an absolutely cutting edge chair and budget is no limitation, this should definitely be on your list.

The Logitech G version vs the regular version

In 2020, Logitech G collaborated with Herman Miller. The result was an Embody chair made for gamers. Even though they look extremely similar, there are differences. The differences between the Logitech G version and the regular version of the Embody are:

  • The Logitech G version has a ‘ribbed’ backrest while the regular version has a smooth backrest.
  • The Logitech V version uses a different foam on the seat. This gives it a slightly softer sitting experience than the regular version.
  • The Logitech G version has an extra strip of foam running along the center of the backrest, making the backrest a little firmer. This can make the regular version feel a bit better at distributing your weight, while the Logitech G version is supposed to encourage better posture.

While similar, both chairs offer different seating experiences. There’s no objective way of telling which one is better as that will come down to personal preferences. If you’re considering an Embody, we recommend trying out both types (if possible) to see which one suits you better.

The way it gently nudges you to sit correctly can be annoying and uncomfortable at first if you’re someone like me who has the ‘lounging around’ pose perfected, and you’ll need to be patient when dialing it in because there’s a lot of adjustments that you can make, but once you’re past that initial period this is a fantastic chair. From the Sync fabric that’s just the right amount of breathable and flexible to the backrest that moves around with you and hugs your spine: this chair will make sure that you’re sitting comfortably and correctly at all times.
