Deadlock Walkers Explained

Deadlock has its own collection of mini-bosses or objectives you need to clear to progress in a lane. They can be compared to towers in other MOBAs. Deadlock currently has three mini-bosses: Walkers, Guardians, and Elder Guardians. In Deadlock, Walkers are the most difficult to defeat, so here is everything you should know about them.

What are Walkers?

Walkers are the second line of defense you will encounter as you make your way towards the enemy Patron. These are giant four-legged monsters that deal a lot of damage. Walkers must be defeated to progress further in a lane. Note that you can’t fight the Walker until the Guardian (the first line of defense) of that lane is taken down.

Every lane has one Walker, meaning there are four Walkers in the game. If you kill two Walkers, your team unlocks a Flex Slot, and if you also manage to defeat the remaining two, another Flex Slot is unlocked. Walkers can’t be damaged until a hero (see: Best Beginner Heroes) or Troopers are close to them.

Walkers – Stats and Attacks

In terms of stats, Walkers are stronger and tankier than Guardians. Much like Guardians, Walkers also gain a 65% buff to their defense when you approach them without Troopers, so it’s important that you don’t challenge them alone. They have a health bar of 5500 and have three different types of attacks:

  • Laser: A fire beam that tracks you and deals a lot of damage
  • Fire Balls: This ability releases a barrage of fireballs that deal damage and leave the floor where they landed burning, which also deals damage
  • Stomp: A stomp the ground, stunning anyone caught in it.

The Walker will switch between these attacks. Each attack has a set duration and cooldown so you can avoid it. Most of the time, the Walker will be using the laser, but it switches to other attacks.

Fireballs last for 3.5 seconds, and each fireball deals 200 damage. There are a total of six fireballs. The Stomp deals 350 damage and stuns for 2s if you are hit by it, so you should definitely try to avoid that.

Walkers – Souls and Ability Points

Walkers, in total, reward 700 Souls to every player that had a hand in defeating it; of those, 250 are granted instantly to each player, while the others become Soul Orbs. Enemies can secure/deny these Souls, so be cautious about it. Breaking these Soul Orbs gives the entire team (alive heroes) the remaining 500 souls and an Ability Point.

Conclusion

Walkers are the most challenging lane bosses you will face as they deal a lot of damage and are close to the enemy base, so enemy heroes can easily come into the fight to assist the Walker. Defeating Walkers is mandatory to progress in the lane, but your team should plan the approach carefully, as defeating a Walker + a bunch of enemy heroes is an extremely difficult task.
