Best Deadlock Beginner Heroes

Learning the heroes is important in any MOBA or hero shooter, and Deadlock is no exception. Thankfully, there aren’t a lot of heroes in Deadlock (yet?) when compared to other MOBAs like LoL or Dota 2. Still, familiarizing yourself with all the heroes takes time, and there is already so much to learn in Deadlock (check our Deadlock beginner guide if you’re completely new) so to make your journey a bit easier we’ve made a list of the best Deadlock beginner heroes.

Seven

Seven excels in dishing out tons of damage and melting enemy tanks and objectives. He has a relatively straightforward kit, making it easier for beginners to pick up. Seven rewards players with a bit of creativity as his kit has a lot of outplay potential. He has a pretty solid farm with his Lightning Ball and Static Charge ability. Not to mention, his ultimate Storm Cloud can be devastating for the other team if used perfectly.

With that said, Seven does struggle when it comes to mobility and sustainability. He is not the tankiest, nor does he have a lot of options for healing. If you’re someone who struggles with staying alive and getting where you need to be, it’s best to pick another hero from the list.

Abrams

Abrams is a great beginner tank to master, simply because of his insane sustainability. If you put the right items on him, he can be nearly impossible to kill for the enemies. He’s a great hero for players who struggle with staying alive. That’s because two of his abilities, Siphon Life and Infernal Resilience, are focused on healing. The first steals health from the enemies, and the other regenerates incoming damage over time.

Combine this with some good healing items, like Healing Rite, for example, and Abrams can become almost unkillable. His third ability and ultimate are both focused on crowd control, so you can also dictate the flow of battle with this hero. Simply put, Abrams is an S-tier hero that’s surprisingly easy for beginners to pick up.

Infernus

Infernus is a fast-moving, highly damaging AOE (area of effect) hero. He excels at dueling other heroes and farming troopers for souls. His Flame Dash ability is one of the best in his kit, allowing you to deal AOE damage while giving yourself some extra mobility. Additionally, debuff items like Soul Shredder and Toxic Bullets can increase Infernus’ damage significantly.

The other two of his abilities are Catalyst and Afterburn. The first allows you to throw napalm at the enemies, burning them and also making your next shots deal more damage. The other is a passive, which makes it so every point of damage Infernus deals also inflicts a debuff.

All in all, Infernus is a really fun and impactful hero to use if you’re a Deadlock beginner. He can dish out tons of damage, move around quickly, and take kills when needed. This is a good hero for players who already have experience in shooter games and like fragging out.

McGinnis

McGinnis is the mechanic of Deadlock, similar to Killjoy in VALORANT or Torbjörn in Overwatch. Her role relies on taking map control and setting up a line of defense for the team. She has turrets and walls to help do that. Her wall is especially handy, as it’s quite large and can help your team gain a lot of space. You can also trap enemies to kill them off easily.

She also has a healing ability called Medicinal Spectre, where she deploys a spirit that heals allies in its small radius. So, she is not only good for defense and taking space but also acts as a support for your team. McGinnis is a good hero to try out if you’re new to the genre and you’re still figuring out your aim settings and the likes.

Kelvin

Kelvin is by far one of the best support and tank heroes in Deadlock. His ability to deal damage while still supporting his teammates is unparalleled. Most of his abilities slow enemies and deal a lot of damage. His Frost Grenade stops enemies in their tracks, and Artic Beam literally freezes them to death.

His ultimate allows you to create a dome of ice that’s impenetrable from the outside. Enemies trapped within it are slowed, whereas allies regenerate health rapidly. Lastly, Ice Trail, allows you to literally run in the air while creating a trail of ice behind you. Combine this with Fleeting Boots, and you become super fast.

All in all, Kelvin is a really solid character with tons of damage and support utility.

Haze

Much like Infernus, Haze also excels in dueling and dealing a lot of damage. Her abilities are solo-focused and don’t bring much in terms of support. As such, this isn’t the hero to pick if you’re someone who isn’t very confident with their aim yet. However, she is a really strong hero that can work for pretty much every play style.

You can stun enemies with her Sleep Dagger, get out of trouble with Smoke, and use your passive ability Fixation, which helps you deal a lot of damage. But the best part of her kit is definitely the ultimate, where Haze enters a flurry and auto-fires on all enemies nearby (similar to Reaper’s ult in Overwatch).

Wraith

Wraith is a great all-rounder hero, excelling in both offense and defense. Mobility-wise she is among the best heroes in the game since she can instantly teleport over short distances. Because of this, you can get in and out of fights quite quickly. Along with this, her Full Auto ability is also incredibly handy. This buffs her and her teammates’ fire rate for a short period.

But her ultimate is what takes the crown, allowing you to essentially lift and stun any enemy hero. With a bit of communication, her ultimate can result in a frag quite easily.

In short, she is fun to use, has a lot of value in her abilities, and is relatively easy to learn. This is a good all-rounder hero to consider.

Conclusion

Your choice of heroes is going to make or break your matches in Deadlock. After all, team composition is important in any MOBA, and Deadlock is no exception to this rule. However, mastering all the heroes can be an excruciating task for a beginner. Learning their abilities, what items to use, and what build to go for takes time and experience.

These heroes are quite straightforward with their abilities, so there isn’t a big learning curve for them. It will still take some time to figure out what items and builds work well on that hero, but you have community-made builds for that.

So if you’re looking for a good Deadlock beginner hero, consider these ones.
