Deadlock Guardians Explained
Like any MOBA, Deadlock also has mini-bosses you must defeat to progress in a lane. Apart from progression, defeating them also grants many benefits, including some Souls. In our guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about Deadlock Guardians.
Guardians
Guardians are the first line of defense in a lane and the first you encounter when pushing a lane.
Each lane has a Guardian, so there are four Guardians in total. To progress in a lane, you must defeat the Guardian. Defeating all four Guardians unlocks a Flex Slot.
Guardians laser anything within its range, whether it’s a Trooper or a hero. This laser deals a lot of damage, so stay away from it or use your Troopers as bait.
Approaching a Guardian with Troopers is especially important because if you approach a Guardian without your Troopers, the Guardian will be granted a 65% damage reduction against your attacks.
As far as stats go, Guardians have 5500 health and a DPS (damage per second) of 80. However, they can’t shoot their laser infinitely and do reload after some time; this reload takes around one second.
Now for the most critical part, the souls. Killing a Guardian results in a total of 275 souls. Of those, 125 are granted on the kill, while the remaining 150 ascend into the sky as Soul Orbs.
Elder Guardians
Elder Guardians are the last line of defense for the enemy base. Two are stationed at the end of each lane. Visually, they are almost identical to Guardians, but they differ in stats.
Elder Guardians are weaker in health, having around 4300 HP. But, to combat this, they have health regeneration and bullet resistance. Effectively, this makes them more tanky than standard Guardians. The other significant difference is that Elder Guardians don’t drop any Souls when killed.
Do’s and Don’ts with Deadlock’s Guardians
While it sounds simple on paper, defeating the Guardians is quite challenging, and if you fumble at this stage of the game, you will be paying a hefty price in the later stages.
Don’t Rush to Defeat The Guardian
While it might sound like a good idea to go for the Guardian as soon as possible and make early progress, it’s not. Your hero is extremely weak in the early game, so going for the Guardian results in instant death. Your goal at the early stages is to farm troopers, earn souls, and upgrade your hero until you are strong enough to tackle the Guardian.
Don’t Go for the Guardian Alone
As mentioned, Guardians get a 65% increase in defense when there are no Troopers around. As such, going for it alone isn’t a wise idea. Always go for the Guardian when you have many Troopers around you.
Use Your Guardian as A Safe Place
Your Guardian protects your lane and can be a safe spot to retreat to when injured. Instead of rushing back to base when you are low, you can hang back around your Guardian, buy items, and regenerate before returning to the fight.
Secure Guardian Souls
While defeating the Guardian is an achievement, don’t forget about the Soul Orbs and shoot them instantly. Guardians drop a lot of souls, so securing them is very important.
