Ancient in CS2 in 15 Beautiful Images

CS2’s latest update has added two new maps to the closed test, and players can now fully explore Ancient in CS2.

Because we know that not everyone has access to CS2, we thought it would be a good idea to take some screenshots around the map so that those unfortunate gamers without beta access can take a look at Ancient in CS2.

Ancient is classified as an Upgrade map, which means that it has new lighting physics as well as new textures, but it won’t have any big redesigns to the overall aesthetic as what we’ve seen on Overpass, for example, so don’t expect any extremely drastic changes here. This is mostly a visual update, but it is a really impressive one.

Players who are familiar with Ancient (if not: try it out, it’s a really fun map!) will immediately notice just how much brighter everything looks. It seems as if the weather has cleared up in the jungle, because the gloomy, dark aesthetic that ruled over CS:GO’s version of Ancient has been swept away by the wind to make way for gorgeous sunny skies.

This new lighting immediately gives the map a completely different vibe, and we’re absolutely loving it. Whether it’ll be enough to convince the majority of players to actually check out and play the map for themselves remains to be seen, but if the drab colors were your reason for not checking it out then you should really put on your jungle hat if you ask us.

All of the photos below have been taken ingame and have not been edited or color corrected at all. What you see is what you get in the game. The only editing we did was crop the screenshots so that the ‘beta version’ text got cropped out, as it makes the photos more pleasant to look at if you ask us.
