Best VALORANT Crosshair

Part of getting good at VALORANT is fiddling around with your settings to find what’s comfortable for you. VALORANT is a first-person tactical shooter with short TTK (time to kill). You don’t want to be held back by things like sensitivity and crosshair when you are in a duel. Your settings and sensitivity are an entirely different debate (see VALORANT Best Settings and Options Guide) and worth exploring, but in this article we’ll focus on helping you get the best VALORANT crosshair.

For any beginner, finding the best crosshair for them is a daunting task in itself. There are a lot of settings and options that can be intimidating for players just starting out, and it can be difficult to find out which settings are going to help you and which ones will hold you back.

To help you out, we have written this extensive guide on VALORANT crosshairs settings. We explain what settings are optimal so that you can make the best VALORANT crosshair for you.

If you want to put what you’ve learned into practice immediately, you can always check out our VALORANT Crosshair Generator, and if you want to import other crosshairs, you can check out HOW TO: Copy Crosshairs in VALORANT. Fade Crosshair with Firing ErrorThis is more of a personal preference thing. It fades the upper bar of your crosshair when your spray becomes random. It helps a lot in recoil and spray control.

Primary VALORANT Crosshair Settings

This is where you will be constructing the perfect crosshair for you. At first glance, there are a lot of options and customizations to handle. Don’t be intimidated as we will guide you through every step.

Making a good crosshair takes trial and error. Keep tweaking each setting and try to figure out what works for you.

Color

The color of your crosshair primarily comes down to personal preference. However, you need to make sure to pick a color that is easily visible on all maps and does not blend into the environment. Plus, it should contrast with the enemy outlines you use.

White, Cyan, and Green are the most widely used colors by pros. This is because they contrast the enemy outline colors in VALORANT. Use Cyan if you prefer yellow enemy outlines, Green for Red. White works with all.

Outlines

The outline settings add a stroke to the edge of your crosshair. It makes it more visible and prominent. Under the outlines section, there are three settings. First, the toggle Outlines, which turns the outlines on or off. Next is the Opacity, meaning how visible your outlines are. Finally, the Outline Thickness controls how thick your outline is.

Fiddle around with these settings to see what works for you. The opinion of pros on outlines is mixed as some prefer it, and some don’t. So, it’s mostly personal preference. Just hop into Range, shoot some bots, and then tweak these settings.

Center Dot

Under the center dot settings,, you will find three settings: to toggle the center dot on and off and to change its opacity and thickness. If you are moving from another tactical shooter like Counter-Strike and you have played on a dot crosshair, you can easily set it up here. However, if you are more comfortable on a plus crosshair, you should turn the dot off.

Deciding between a plus and dot crosshair is primarily a personal preference, However, there are some differences between the two. Dot crosshair forces you to focus on more accuracy and one tap, but you can suffer when spraying. It’s optimal for long-range fights on maps like Breeze.

On the other hand, the plus crosshair is more versatile. It’s suitable for spraying and sufficient enough for one tap as well. However, for long-range fights, it becomes a little obstructive.

Deciding between the two thus comes down to your playstyle and personal preferences.

Inner Lines

This is where we get into making your actual crosshair. Under this section, you will find nine options.

First, you must turn on Inner Lines; that’s the first setting. Following it are four settings that customize the look of your crosshair.

You have Inner Line Opacity, which controls how much your crosshair is visible. Just turn it up to 100%, as you want your crosshair to be as visible as possible. Next, you have Inner Lines Length, which controls the length of the four lines of your crosshair. A length between 3 and 6 is good enough for most crosshairs, and it’s what’s most commonly used by the pros.

Next up is Inner Lines Thickness; just as it sounds, this setting makes your crosshair thicker and thinner. Try to keep your thickness within 1-3; anything more than that will make your crosshair distracting.

Then we have the Inner Lines Offset or simply gap. For the offset, a good range is between 1-3. If you prefer a crosshair with no gap, keep it at 0.

Now you have 4 more settings, the Movement and Firing error and their multipliers. Movement error makes your crosshair spread when you are moving. This is good when practicing strafing, but turn this off for ranked or casual matches, as it can make you inaccurate.

Firring error, on the other hand, makes your crosshair spread as you spray. This mostly comes down to personal preference. However, there are only a handful of Pros that actually use this setting. Try it out for yourself and see what you like.

Finally, both multipliers control the amount that your crosshair spreads or moves. If you are using these errors, keep the multipliers at default.

Outer Lines

Outer lines are the crosshair bars around your inner lines. Very few people use this setting, so if you just toggle it off you will be fine. However, if you want to try it, you can. It works the same way as Inner Lines does.

Aim Down Sights (ADS) Settings

This crosshair shows up when you are aiming with the right click. The aim-down sights crosshair should be a smaller version of your usual crosshair. You can also go for a dot crosshair to give you that juicy precision over long-range.

In VALORANT, you don’t use the aim-down sights often; if you don’t want to configure this setting, you can leave it at default, and you will be fine.

Sniper Scope Settings

If you use the Operator often, you need to configure this setting. You have the color options – keep it the same as your main crosshair. Then, you have the opacity to turn it up to 100%. Following that, you have the thickness. Thickness is primarily a personal preference. Try out different thicknesses in the range and see what you are comfortable with.

Why a Good Crosshair Is Essential for Your Aim

Good aim is an essential mechanic in VALORANT and all other shooters. The thing that helps you aim is the crosshair. It’s the tool you will be using to pop enemies’ heads. This is why figuring out a crosshair that is perfect for you is essential.

It is going to take a lot of trial and error to figure out what works for you. But when you do find a crosshair that feels comfortable, stick to it. It is tempting to try out different crosshairs, but it can mess with your consistency. Remember, consistent settings equals consistent performance in the game, so if you’re heading into an important match, it’s not a good idea to completely change your crosshair. Of course you can always tweak the values a little bit, but going from a dot crosshair to a large, dynamic plus crosshair will definitely change your gameplay, so keep that in mind.
