How to Enable 2FA in Fortnite

Have you ever wondered what would happen if your Fortnite account got hacked and all your precious skins and emotes were lost? It’s a chilling thought but one that highlights the importance of securing your account.

Whether it’s a new or old account, you need to have your account secured. That’s where 2FA or Two-Factor Authentication comes in. It adds another layer of security to your account, preventing it from being cracked.

Enabling 2FA might seem like a difficult task, but it’s not. In this article, we will take you through the steps on how to enable 2FA in Fortnite.

Types of Authentication in Fortnite

There are three main ways to enable 2FA through Epic Games in Fortnite.

  • App Authentication
  • SMS Authentication
  • Email Authentication

All of these authentications work by sending you a code that you can use to log in to your Epic Games Account. App authentication sends a code to an authenticator app on your phone. Same for the SMS and Email authentication. You will receive a code on both of them.

Why Should You Use 2FA In Fortnite?

2FA is a great way to secure and prevent hack attempts at your account. There are a lot of other reasons to enable 2FA apart from security.

Firstly, it allows you to participate in in-game competitive events. If you are a good player and want to start playing on the pro level and possibly win some money, you need to have 2FA. Secondly, without 2FA you are unable to send and receive gifts to friends through the item store.

Finally, the cherry on top is the free Boogie Down emote you get after enabling 2FA. Unlocking competitive events, sending and receiving gifts, a free emote, and an extra layer of security, that’s what you can get by enabling 2FA.
