With new weapons, historical Greek POIs, exciting new cosmetics, revamped medallions, and much more, Fortnite Chapter 5 Season has added a lot of content. So, without wasting much time, here is everything you need to know about the new Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2.

All the images in this article are sourced from the official Fortnite Official Chapter 5 Season 2 announcement

The Greek Mythological POIs

The island is brimming with Greek mythology, including historical landmarks, creatures, and Gods. Many gods, such as Zeus and Hades, have taken up arms against the players and are ready to be tested for their power.

The new season features four legendary new POIs based on Greek Mythology. Each of these is inhabited by a God. You can challenge the Gods on these POIs for mythic weapons and medallions

Grim Gate

Part of the new underworld biome, Grim Gate houses Cerberus (the Guardian of Hell). It’s a grim-looking gateway leading to the Underworld POI. It’s filled with loot, chests, and the new green water. By stepping into this water, you are granted the ability to dash. You get three dashes in total, and you can use those by pressing the jump button twice. After using all of them, you can renew the dashes by diving into the water again.

The Underworld

The Underworld is where the dead lie. It’s guarded by the King of Hell, Hades. You can venture into this dark and grim POI and challenge Hades for his mythic and medallion. It replaces Ritzy Rivera and is filled with God chests and loot.

Brawler’s Battleground

The arena of champions—Brawler’s Battleground, is the domain of Ares, the God of War. Brave and talented warriors are welcome to challenge Ares for his power. The POI looks similar to a gladiator ring, filled with little Easter eggs about the Greek Pantheon. In terms of loot, there are tons of normal and God’s chests that you can loot up from.

Mount Olympus

Mount Olympus is the castle of the God of The Gods, Zeus. A light from the heavens shines upon the statue of Zeus on this POI. Mount Olympus is the largest location out of all of the new locations and is filled with loot. You challenge Zeus to a battle for his mythic and medallion there.

Gods and Their Powers

Now that the Gods have taken control of the island, they have replaced the previous NPCs such as Peter Griffin. Similar to the old bosses, defeating these gods results in the drop of new mythic weapons and medallions.

The Aspects of the Gods

Medallions are now called Aspect of Gods—powerful tokens that grant you the power of these almighty beings. They are quite different from the Society medallions of Season 1. Instead of regenerating your shield, they now offer buffs and abilities to aid you in your battles.

You can get your hands on these Aspects of Gods by defeating the bosses that hold them (Zeus, Hades Ares, Cerberus) on their POIs. Each of them drops a unique medallion fused with their power. We already have a detailed article on this, but here is a quick summary of what the Aspects of the Gods do:

  • Aspect of Combat – Dropped by Ares on Brawler’s Battleground. Increases ranged weapon damage by 1.05x.
  • Aspect of Agility – Dropped by Cerberus on Grim Gate. Grants the holder the ability to dash.
  • Aspect of Speed – Dropped by Zeus on Mount Olympus. Gives a huge buff to jump height and movement speed while sprinting.
  • Aspect Of Siphon – Dropped by Hades on The Underworld. Heals the player for 50 after getting a kill.

As mentioned, to get these medallions, you need to defeat the boss at their POI. Unlike, the last season, these bosses need to be spawned first. You do this by going to their altar and smashing their statue to the ground. It’s recommended that you first loot up and clear the POI before starting the boss fight.

The medallions still reveal your position on the map through a circle. The more medallions you carry, the smaller the circle will be, making it easier to pinpoint your location.

The Mythic Weapons

Similar to the last season, the bosses also drop mythic weapons—powerful versions of the standard new weapons. They have better mods, faster fire rates, and more damage. We have covered the mythic weapons in depth in another article, but here is a quick rundown.

Thunderbolt of Zeus

On activation, you leap into the air and rain down three thunderbolts at the enemy. The first two bolts deal 80 damage with the final finishing the enemy off with 140 damage. The Thunderbolt of Zeus is dropped by Zeus and can be found in God Chests around the Island. It’s limited to only three uses.

    Zeus’ Huntress DMR

The Huntress DMR is a long-range marksman rifle. It is a fully automatic rifle with a slow firing rate and high damage. The Huntress DMR is quite powerful on its own, and with the mythic variant, it becomes even more formidable. The mythic variant is only dropped by Zeus, whereas the standard variant can be found throughout the map.

    Hades’ Harbinger SMG

Hades’s Harbinger SMG is considered by some to be the best mythic weapon in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2. Even the non-mythic variant is powerful enough to nail down enemies, and Hades’ versions ups that power even more. You can get Hades’s Harbinger SMG in The Underworld after defeating Hades.

    Cerberus’ Gatekeeper Shotgun

The Gatekeeper Shotgun is a new weapon in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2. It is a close-range, fast-firing three-shot shotgun that can deal massive damage up close. It has a maximum damage cap of 150 if you can land all of the shells on the head.

The best thing about this shotgun is the fast reload speed of 2.5 seconds. Cereberus drops his Gatekeeper shotgun at the Grim Gate, but the standard variant can be found throughout the map as well.

    Ares’ Warforged Assault Rifle

The Warforged Assault Rifle replaces the Striker AR this season. It’s an automatic medium-range assault rifle with a DPS of 140.  The mythic variant is even more powerful with the added attachments and the buffed-up fire-rate.

You can get the Mythic Warforged Assault Rifle from Ares in Brawler’s Battleground.

    Icarus’ Wings

One of the most exciting and fun additions in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is Icarus’ Wings. These allow you to fly and soar through the sky. There is also an attack you can do with your ADS button. You aim at a spot on the ground and divebomb it with the full might of the wings.

It’s important to note that the wings last for a limited amount of time and if you are shot mid-flight you are going straight down. It won’t cause any fall damage, but you will be down on the ground for a while. The best thing about the Icarus Wings is that they can be found all over the map in God Chests.

    Chains of Hades

A chain fused with the power of Hades and the Underworld. You can swing it to damage enemies or pull enemies towards you. You can find it all across the map in God Chests.

    New Weapons and Mods

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 brought new weapons and vaulted some old ones. The new weapons are powerful and a fun addition to the game. Following is the list of all weapons that are still in the game from Season 1:

    • Hammer Pump Shotgun
    • Frenzy Auto Shotgun
    • Nemesis AR
    • Thunder Burst SMG
    • Reaper Sniper Rifle
    • Ranger Pistol

These are the weapons in the game at the time of writing. It’s important to note that as the season goes on new weapons will be added. For example, the Hand Cannon is supposed to make a comeback later this season.

Of course, some weapons have been vaulted like the Striker AR, Grapple Blade, and Ballistic Shield. These are now replaced with new weapons. On top of that, there are two new attachments in the game in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2: the Thermal Scope and Speedgrip.

The Thermal Scope (as the name implies) allows you to see the heat signatures of enemies. It works the same as the Thermal Scoped AR in the older seasons of Fortnite.

The Speedgrip increases your movement speed while aiming, allowing you to be fast while being precise.

Below, we’ll briefly describe the new weapons that have been added to the game in Chapter 5 Season 2:

    Harbinger SMG

A fast-firing SMG that does a ton of damage up close. In terms of stats, it has a base damage of 19, with a fire rate of 9.5, a reload time of 2.6, and a DPS of 180.5. These stats are for the blue or Rare variant. This SMG is one of the strongest weapons in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, and it is second only to the Gatekeeper Shotgun.

    Huntress DMR

Apparently, the powerful Reaper Sniper Rifle wasn’t enough, so Epic decided to add another long-range rife—the Huntress DMR. It does massive damage but fires slowly, at about 1.46 shots per second. The base damage is 94 with a headshot multiplier of 1.5x. Pair this with good attachments and you have an extremely powerful long-ranged weapon.

    Warforged Assault Rifle

The replacement to the Striker AR, the Warforged Assault rifle is a versatile automatic, fast-firing rifle. It’s the go-to rifle this season, with its good damage and even better fire rate. It does have some significant recoil, but you can solve that by adding the foregrip attachment.

    Gatekeeper Shotgun

The pump shotgun is so good that it’s rare to see other shotguns even compete with it. However, the Gatekeeper Shotgun definitely has the stats to replace the pump as the main shotgun. It has extremely high damage up close and a faster fire rate than the pump. However, it loses when it comes to magazine size with only three shots. Unlike the pump, though, the Gatekeeper shotgun reloads all three shots at once, giving it a leg up when it comes to the overall reload time.

    The Bunkers

If you wanted to add attachments in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, you could do so in a vault on the POIs. That’s not the case anymore in the new season. If you want to add attachments to your weapons you will have to find a bunker. These are randomly scattered all across the map. They are filled with blue chests, gold, weapons, and attachment tables.

The great thing is that you don’t even need a vault key to access these bunkers. There is a caveat however, and that is that the bunkers do not open until the first circle closes. When they do, they make a lot of noise, alerting any enemies in that area.

    The New Battle Pass

With every new season comes an exciting new battle pass, and the same is true for this season. The Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is themed around Greek Mythology and so is the battlepass. It’s filled with Greek Gods and characters we all know. It features the following new skins.

    • Cerberus: Rise from The Underworld (unlocked immediately!)
    • Aphrodite: The Goddess of Love
    • Poseidon: The God of the Oceans
    • Medusa: Humanity’s stone-hearted defender
    • Zeus: King of the Gods
    • Artemis: The Goddess of Natura and Wilderness
    • Hades: The gatekeeper of the Underworld

That’s of course not all. As usual, the battlepass is also filled with exciting emotes, pickaxes, gliders, and more. Plus, you also get Avatar Korra as the bonus skin of the Battlepass. You can get the battle pass from the item shop for 950 V-Bucks.
