Introduction

Those who have been following ProSettings for a while might know that, since the start, one brand dominated the headset scene. HyperX’s Cloud II line of headsets was so ubiquitous that it was difficult to imagine how the brand would ever be ousted from the #1 spot. And yet, Razer has done it. As of November 2025, the green brand is the #1 headset brand on ProSettings.net. In this article, we dive into why that is. We’ll also share our own experiences with the BlackShark V2 Pro CS2 edition.

The BlackShark Line

We’ve said it time and time again: audio is absolutely crucial in esports. Having a good audio solution can net you tons of ‘how did they know where I was’ kills. If you want to realize your full potential, you need a headset that is great at communicating where sounds are coming from. You also need it to be detailed, and able to give you important information (reloads, footsteps, …) in the heat of battle. Beyond all that, a headset should also be comfortable and transmit your voice clearly to your teammates.

When the BlackShark V2 Pro launched, it was a hit almost instantly. Being an esports-focused product with no unnecessary gimmicks, it immediately made its way to the heads of a bunch of professionals. With precise audio, a great mic, and a comfortable and sturdy design, it kept gaining new fans over the years, until it became the #1 headset on ProSettings.net.

When the BlackShark V3 Pro launched earlier this year, Razer solidified the BlackShark’s position as the most popular esports headset by further refining their hit product without messing with what made it so popular. The V3 Pro introduced ANC, simultaneous 2.4GHz and BT connection, better drivers, a better mic, improved wireless connectivity, and swappable ear cup covers. Our reviewer called it ‘one of the very best [headsets] in the world right now’.

With so many pros going for the BlackShark line, it’s clear that Razer has cracked the audio code. They’ve made a no-nonsense, reliable, and to-the-point audio product that is made with and for competitive gamers. Add to that the fact that the BlackShark name is becoming an iconic one in the world of gaming peripherals, and it’s hard to see another brand taking over anytime soon.

Hands-on With the BlackShark V3 Pro CS2 Edition

The BlackShark V3 Pro CS2 Edition is the first licensed BSV3Pro headset, and also one of the first BlackSharks with a metallic finish.

Initially, we were a bit concerned that the headset would look gaudy or ‘cheap’, but when we first got our hands on the CS2 Edition, we were very positively surprised.

The designers at Razer really nailed it here, if you ask us. The ear cups have a textured, metallic finish to them, which makes the iconic Dragon Lore art look right at home on the headset. Had they gone with a standard plastic ear cup with simple, printed-on artwork, it would’ve made the headset look tacky. Here, it almost looks like a beautiful medieval coat of arms display piece was directly applied to the ear cup.

Something else that we really like are the colors. The headset has a regal aesthetic, and the deep bronze and red colors of the dragon match beautifully with the overall golden color of the headset. The intricate pattern in the background fills out the empty spaces without becoming too busy or attention-grabbing.

The whole aesthetic is further emphasized by the pattern on the headset band. This is taken from the Dragon Lore background artwork and elevates the whole ‘royal gift’ vibe that the headset has going for it with a luxury finishing touch.

Obviously, this kind of design won’t suit every setup and it won’t be to everyone’s taste, but Razer has been on a roll with their special editions lately, and this is yet another quality piece to add to the collection. They really thought about the design and weren’t lazy in its implementation, resulting in an awesome-looking product.

What’s Next for Razer?

It’s clear Razer is on a roll here. The newest BlackShark has pretty much everything gamers asked for with the V2, and is steadily gaining users. There’s no doubt that Razer will continue gathering feedback from pros and more casual players to further refine their future models, but for now they seem to have pretty much perfected the formula.

It’ll be interesting to see what types of collabs we might see in the future from Razer, and we’re also excited to find out just how much of the market the BlackShark line can take.

You can check out the BlackShark V3 Pro CS2 Edition (and other CS2 Edition products) on Razer’s website.
