Best VALORANT Keybinds
Finding out a good set of binds holds the same importance as figuring out the perfect sensitivity. This is especially important in VALORANT, as the game is a hero shooter where you will be actively using the abilities keys multiple times per round. If you have those in awkward spots, they can hinder your aim. That’s why it’s important to find the best VALORANT keybinds for your personal situation.
Binds are something of a personal preference; what works for others might not work for you. However, some binds are better than others from a competitive standpoint. We will provide you with a couple of options.
This guide will focus on keybinds. You can check out our best VALORANT options guide for a detailed guide on all settings.
Best VALORANT Keybinds – Action Keys
The controls section in VALORANT is categorized into different sections: action, equipment, communication, and interface. We will review and discuss each section. We will only be discussing the binds that are important from a competitive standpoint or have an impact on the game.
Firstly, the action section. The binds worth talking about in this section are the movement and abilities binds. The movement binds are mostly personal preference, but they are left on default for most people, which is completely fine.
The only thing you might change here is the adding the mouse wheel as an alternate jump bind. Jumping with the mouse wheel can make jumping feel a lot more consistent. You give many inputs when scrolling, so you’re bound to hit an input at the exact point where you want to jump.
Moving on, the abilities section is quite important and it should be configured properly. Starting off, you should have at least one bind on the mouse side buttons. It frees up keys on your keyboard and makes it using the abilities more convenient. Here is a set of good starting binds that you can tweak to your preference:
- Ability 1 – Mouse Button 4
- Ability 2 – Mouse Button 5
- Ability 3 – Q
- Ultimate – E
- Jump – Mouse Wheel Down / Mouse Wheel Up
- Movement – WASD
- Default Movement Mode – Run
- Toggle Walk – Off
VALORANT also has the feature of setting Custom Agent Profiles so that you have different sets of binds for different agents. For example, you can create a custom profile for Jett and bind the dash to the mouse side button. There are countless setups you can make depending on the agents that you play.
The rest of the settings are perfect and can be left default unless you have a reason to change them.
Best VALORANT Keybinds – Equipment Keys
As the name implies, this section mostly focuses on your guns and gear. There are two main things to talk about in this section. Firstly, the scope hold/toggle debate and secondly your weapon slot binds. The rest can be left at default or adjusted to your personal preference. Let’s talk about the scope behavior first.
Scope Hold/Toggle – Which is Better?
For those unfamiliar, hold/toggle refers to how you use your scope. Hold means that you hold your right mouse button to scope in, and as soon as you let go you scope out. On the other hand, toggle makes it so you have to press the scope button once to scope in and again to scope out.
Opinions on what’s best between the two are very divided among the pros. We can’t say which one’s the best with any certainty., as this depends on your personal preferences. However, we will list the pros and cons of each option and you can decide based on that.
For hold, the obvious benefit is the speed. You can do quick scopes a lot faster with hold compared to Toggle. That’s why a lot of fast and flicky Operator players prefer hold over toggle.
The downside of hold becomes apparent when holding an angle. If you are scoping in for a long time you have to keep holding the button which might become uncomfortable for some people. On top of that, you have to bind another key for double zoom since you can’t do that with hold.
On the flip side, toggle is way better for holding angles and for scoping in with rifles. But the downside is that you have to press the button twice and quick scopes are a bit difficult with toggle. You can also easily double-zoom by pressing the scope button again.
If you opt to go for toggle, there are a couple more options you need to configure, these are:
Operator Zoom – Cycle/Toggle – Controls what happens when you press the scope button. Leaving this on Cycle works well for most people. But, in order to close the scope you have to go through both scope zooms first. You can just quickly switch to your knife to instantly unscope and combat this.
The toggle option works a bit differently. It makes it so the scope closes after you press the right mouse button. You can then configure the double zoom with the Operator Zoom (Hold) setting.
Operator Zoom (Hold) – Cycle/Toggle – is only unlocked when Operator Zoom is set to ‘toggle’. This setting controls what happens if you hold the scope button after scoping in. The toggle makes you scope out, and the cycle makes you Zoom in. If you keep holding, the button it will scope out.
The best option is to set this to cycle. It allows you to double zoom in just by holding the scope button for a second.
Auto Re-enter Scope – On/Off – Controls if you want to automatically scope in after taking a shot. Off is the best for this, as you don’t want to scope in when you don’t want to.
Weapon Binds
The default weapon binds are the number buttons. For most people, these are fine and don’t need changing. However, a good portion of players like to change these binds. A common approach is to bind your knife to a button that’s easy to access. This helps when you are using the Operator and need to perform a quick switch. Apart from that, you can bind them to almost anything so long as the binds are comfortable and easily accessible for you.
Best VALORANT Keybinds – Communication and Interface
Communication -as the name suggests- involves keybinds for pings and voice chat. The only thing you need to configure is Party Push to Talk and Team Push Talk. Set these to buttons that are easy to reach in the heat of battle. The rest of it can be left default.
The Interface section has almost no impact on the game itself. It’s mostly quality of life and can be left at default.
Best VALORANT Keybinds – Conclusion
VALORANT is built up from the ground to be a competitive shooter. It’s why the binds section is so simple and the default binds are good. All of these binds that we talked about are what the pros use or recommend. But, because binds are personal preference we can’t just give you a perfect set of binds. You need to fiddle around a bit to find what’s comfortable for you. With the help of this article, you should be able to easily find your personal set of best VALORANT keybinds.
