Marvel Rivals Currencies Explained

Introduction

While Marvel Rivals is free-to-play, there are, like in pretty much all free-to-play games, microtransactions. The existence of three different currencies might confuse players, so in this article we’ll explain all the different Marvel Rivals currencies.

Lattice

Lattice is the main currency in Marvel Rivals that is used to buy all the other currencies. Players can convert Lattice to the other two currencies, but not the other way around.

Lattice can only be bought with real money, with 1000 Lattice costing around $10.

LatticeUSD
100$0.99
500$4.99
1000$9.99
2180$19.99
5680$49.99
11680$99.99

Note: prices are accurate at the time of writing. They might increase or decrease in the future.

Units

Units are what you use to buy cosmetics and the Battle Pass in Marvel Rivals. Units can be earned in-game by completing missions and achievements, and they can also be in the Battle Pass as rewards. Sometimes, exclusive events will also allow players to get Units. Finally, Lattice can also be used to unlock Units: 1 Lattice will get you 1 Unit.

Since players can get Units for free by playing, you can buy at least one skin just by playing the game long enough and collecting Units. Then you can top up the remaining by using Lattice. This is the cheapest way to get yourself a skin in Marvel Rivals.

Obviously, it’s not going to be possible to get all premium costumes if you’re not going to spend any real world money on the game, but over time you might be able to get yourself some nice discounts on your favorite costumes.

Chrono Tokens

Chrono Tokens are the currency that’s used to unlock Battle Pass rewards in Marvel Rivals. You earn them by completing daily missions, and other ingame tasks. Occasionally, Twitch promotional events may also drop Chrono Tokens.

All of this means that you can get a lot of Chrono Tokens quite easily.

Once you have enough of Chrono Tokens, you can then exchange these Chrono Tokens to get rewards from the Battle Pass.

The Battepass has two types of tiers: Luxury and free.

The items in the Luxury tier can only be unlocked if you purchase the Battle Pass. However, the free tier can be unlocked by anyone. A Battle Pass reward usually costs around 200-400 Chrono tokens.

Note that you cannot skip through Battle Pass pages. If there’s a reward you like on page 5, for example, you’ll have to spend enough Chrono Tokens on pages 1-4 in order to even get to page 5.

How Much Do Skins Cost in Marvel Rivals

The price of skins in Marvel Rivals is quite similar to other games. Skins start from around 500 Units ($5) for a simple reskin of the default skin, to 2600 Units ($25-30) for the most premium-looking skins.

Generally, you can get a very decent skin for around 1600 Units ($15-20). You can make it even cheaper by grinding for Units by completing missions and achievements, and then topping up the remaining balance with Lattice.

The other economical way to get skins is to buy the Batte Pass. It costs around $10 and you can get anywhere from 8-10 skins.

In general, Marvel Rivals functions similarly to most other games of its kind. Players who don’t spend any real world money will be able to get some skins and cosmetics, but the most premium and exclusive cosmetics will generally be reserved for paying players.

Conclusion

Currencies in Marvel Rivals are confusing at first, but they are quite simple in concept. Lattice is the main currency that can be used to buy anything in the game including the other currencies. Units are for skins, emotes, and other cosmetic items. Chrono Tokens are used only in the Battle Pass to unlock the rewards.
