Introduction

For a professional gamer, an official match is only part of the day. Pros have practice sessions, scrims, and VOD reviews, all of which add up to a considerable amount of time spent at a desk or sitting down. As such, it’s no surprise that ergonomically responsible comfort is key for those who get paid to play games.

Over the past year or two, Razer chairs have been getting more and more popular in the professional gaming scene, as we see tournaments, teams, and individuals go for the Iskur line of chairs. In this article, we’ll dive into what makes this particular chair so well-suited for the competitive scene, and how the current Iskur V2 NewGen came to be.

Growing in popularity

If you follow esports, there’s no doubt you’ve seen Razer’s flagship chairs already. Despite the fact that the brand does not have a historic presence in the gaming furniture space, world-renowned organizations like Sentinels, 100 Thieves, and MOUZ are now using Iskurs.

It doesn’t end there, however. That adoption has expanded beyond individual pros and teams into major competitive environments, leading the Razer Iskur V2 NewGen to become the official chair for events such as VCT EMEA 2026-2027 and EVO Japan 2026. Again: these are not small, backyard LAN events. They are prestigious, international tournaments across multiple genres where players are expecting the best of the best.

Another example is the Apex Legends Global Series Year 5 Championship, where the Iskur V2 NewGen debuted to support players across multiple days of fierce competition.

There are numerous other examples that could be listed, but the message is clear: the Iskur V2 is seeing more and more usage in the pro scene, even to the point where it’s (at the time of writing) the most popular chair on ProSettings.net.

VALORANT has been particularly important to that growth. The highly competitive and gear-curious scene was the first pro circuit where the brand reached the number-one spot for chairs, building on its success with mice and headsets among VALORANT professionals.

That momentum has also coincided with significant competitive success: all four Team Razer organizations won their respective VCT Stage 2 regional titles in 2026, while 100 Thieves went on to win the VALORANT title at the Esports World Cup.

The Razer Iskur V2 NewGen is also the official gaming chair of VCT EMEA and Game Changers EMEA for 2026–2027, giving it a regular presence on the competitive stage, so it’s clear that this is a match that won’t end any time soon.

Back support that moves as you move

One of the most eye-catching features of the Razer Iskur V2 NewGen is its HyperFlex lumbar support system. This is adjustable and, most impressively, flexible, meaning that it moves with you as you shift positions.

As such, it has your back no matter what you do. No matter if you’re leaning back between matches, sitting in a focus position during a clutch, or sitting slightly sideways during a conversation, the lumbar system continues to provide support as your sitting position changes .

Obviously, the support is also customizable. You can adjust the height and protrusion so that you can find a perfect fit.

Players who spend hours with their chairs obviously love this type of support. As Impact, one of the world’s most successful League of Legends pros, puts it:

“Long practice sessions feel way easier on my back with this chair.”

Back support is one of the most important factors of a gaming chair, and the Razer Iskur V2 NewGen is one of the best ergonomic gaming chairs on the market on that front due to its flexible support.

Room to change position

Adjustability is important, but you should also have enough space in your seat to sit in the way you prefer. That’s why the Razer Iskur V2 NewGen has wide shoulder arches and a spacious seat base. You get none of that overly restrictive sensation that you get on some other gaming chairs, as the Razer Iskur V2 NewGen is meant to support you whether you’re sitting cross-legged, with one leg under your bottom, or just in a focus position.

The 4D armrests add another dimension of adjustability. You can change the height, move them forward and backward, side-to-side, and rotate them inward or outward. This is another feature that’s particularly important to pro players; you’ve no doubt seen footage of pro gamers lining up their keyboard with a ruler, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the position of armrests is also extremely important.

As a finishing touch, the armrests also have a peel- and crack-resistant surface. Armrests are often one of the first components to show aging, so it was important to Razer to make sure these are up for the usage that pro gamers will put on them.

A new approach to cushioning

In addition to the lumbar support, cushioning is another crucial aspect when it comes to how a chair feels for prolonged usage. The Razer Iskur V2 NewGen uses dual-density, cold-cured foam, with a softer upper layer and a firmer base underneath.

These layers achieve two different things. The upper layer provides cushioning and a comfy feeling when you sit down, while the base is there to provide support over longer usage without sagging.

Perforations allow for better airflow, which is another key factor for pros who use chairs for hours each day; we all know how it feels to sit in a badly ventilated chair on a hot day, and that’s obviously not an experience pros want to have when grinding and playing.

Asuna, VALORANT player for 100 Thieves, also likes the foam formulation:

“The cushioning feels supportive all day without flattening or losing comfort.”

In short: super soft chairs are great for comfort, but bad for your back. Harder chairs are good for posture, but not very comfortable. Razer’s dual-density foam is designed to combine plush comfort with firmer support.

Cooler upholstery that’s meant to last

Aside from the aforementioned perforations, the Razer Iskur V2 NewGen uses the brand’s Gen-2 EPU leather with CoolTouch technology. CoolTouch uses a material with high thermal effusivity, allowing heat to transfer away from the contact surface more quickly and giving it a cooler feel.

That’s a major advantage for pros, as gaming environments can get quite hot. Practice rooms have tons of PCs (which are basically space heaters when you’re playing games) in them, and tournament stages obviously have lots of hot lights present.

HyDra, the 2023 Call of Duty World Champion, really loves the CoolTouch technology:

“The seat stays cool even after long scrims, which keeps me focused longer.”

JohnQT, VALORANT Masters Madrid 2024 Champion, echoes that sentiment:

“What surprised me most is how cool it stays. I don’t feel sweaty after hours of play anymore.”

If you’ve ever played a competitive game for more than a couple of hours, you’ll know how important airflow is on a chair, so it’s good to see that Razer has thought of this.

Beyond that, upholstery should also be durable, though. And the designers thought of that, too. The Gen-2 EPU leather is up to 13 times as resistant to peeling as standard PU leather. That’s particularly important for heavily used chairs, as you obviously don’t want the leather to peel after only a couple of months. Peeling leather might not have a direct influence on the performance of a chair, but it does make it look extremely worn.

A design built around everyday usage

The Razer Iskur V2 NewGen is a chair that’s built around the person using it. It doesn’t force you into certain postures, and it’s not going to limit your freedom to sit in a more comfy position, either.

The team at Razer studied how people sit over long periods of time and, along with the input from lots of pro players, came up with a chair that moves with you and accommodates you at all times, whether you’re tightening up because you’re in a clutch or you’re having a relaxed chat with your teammates.

That player-focused approach also earned the Iskur V2 NewGen a Gold Award at the 2026 Human-Centered Design Award, providing independent recognition of the design philosophy behind the chair.

All in all, the Razer Iskur V2 NewGen is a great example of what happens when you take pro feedback, real human behaviors, and smart design and combine it into a product. It’s a chair that’s built for the grind, and everything beyond that.
